I called the Walmarts on east and west Bell Road in Phoenix. I spoke with the managers about the no weapons policy referencing the recent Apache Junction Walmart abjuction and rape (and subsequent shooting by his next would-be victim). I told him that the store policy would not save him from civil suit and would in fact open him up to greater liability since it would enbolden the criminals.

They each told me they would speak with their district manager. I also told them that we have gotten a few Walmarts to take down their signs and we want them to do so as well.

The second store manager told me that they had had complaints from some customers about other customers who were carrying openly (probably me) and had to do a balancing act.

I told him that I am sure that in Walmarts in the deep south they might have some customers who would not approve of sharing a checkout line with a black man. I told him that I no more tolerate anti-gun bigotry than I do racist bigotry.

He asked me to give him a week to contact the district manager.

Altogether, the Walmart managers were much less snooty than the Frys Electronics manager.

Please call the Walmarts near you and tell them to take down the no gun signs so they can reduce their liablility.

Rick
