Deserts leave their mark on Arizona's landscape
Arizona has the distinction of
being home to four deserts,
although two of them just barely
nick the state.
Although Arizona is dominated
by the relatively lush Sonoran Desert,
three others - the Mojave Desert to the west,
the Chihuahuan Desert to the far southeast,
and the Great Basin Desert to the far northwest -
all reach into the state.
Arizona is the only state to host all four,
according to the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum in Tucson.
