AC and DC Currents |
Direct Current* Direct current, or DC, refers to the flow of charge that always flows in one direction. Alternating Current* Electrons in the circuit move fast in one direction and then in the opposite direction, alternating back and forth about relatively fixed positions. A battery produces a direct current (DC). The elctrons are set in motion by chenical reaction in a battery and flow only one way. A genorator, on the other hand, produces an alternating current (AC), because the wire coal is influenced alternately by the North and South poles. The current is therefore constanly changing direction. |
