ELV1S 30 #1HITS - due for release in Australia on September 23rd
 A great deal of work that has gone into optimizing the sound for this special release. Graceland/EPE has had the opportunity to hear the new mixes and approve the adjustment of the master recordings. Wintersun Festival 2002, 31st May - 10th June
The Wintersun Festival is a 50s and 60s Music and Nostalgia Festival, held at Coolangatta, featuring Hot Rods, Custom and Classic Cars, Dance Competitions, Street Parade, Rockabilly, Jive, Rock & Roll, Bands, Artists and Entertainers.
Red West and Dean Vegas' performance on Saturday 8th June is part of this festival (see item below for details).

Actor Red West, school mate, bodyguard, songwriter and long time friend of Elvis Presley
recounts his experiences from his life with the King. Joining Red is Australia's own and the World #1 Elvis Tribute Artist - Dean Vegas.

America the Beautiful
Elvis Presley's classic 'America the Beautiful' is being released across the world on October 16 to raise funds for the AMERICAN RED CROSS LIBERTY DISASTER RELIEF FUND. The single will also feature live versions of 'Amazing Grace' and 'If I Can Dream'. RCA, Elvis' record company, and the Elvis Presley Estate have waived all royalties from the track, originally recorded in 1963. Jack Soden, president and CEO of Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc, said: "In his lifetime, Elvis always responded to people in need. If his music can bring even a moment of shelter from the pain and resources to the recovery, then his legacy will have all the meaning he could ever have hoped for." Firstly, the Village Twin Cinema is screening "That's The Way It Is" (New Edition) and "Viva Las Vegas" from August 30th - September 12th. Screening times are Monday - Friday 7pm only and Weekends 12.00, 3.30pm and 7.00 pm. Their address is Palace Village Twin Cinema 701 Brunswick St, New Farm (Brisbane). Bookings are $9.50 a ticket or 20 or More Bookings $6.00 Ph:(07)335 82021 Mon - Fri after 6.00pm Weekends from early afternoon. Secondly, the box set "Live In Las Vegas" will be released 2nd September. |

| June 11, 2001 | 25th anniversary of Elvis' passing: 16th August 2002 Various plans are already underway for next year's special anniversary. Graceland/EPE is proposing a Graceland postage stamp. They can't have another picture of Elvis on a stamp for 50 years, so the suggestion is for a picture of the Graceland mansion. They are asking US-based fans to lobby the Postmaster General. Then, there is a campaign afoot for a world-wide "Love Me Tender" public holiday with celebrations including a World-Wide Sing-a-long. The campaign is run by Garyelvis Britt, Founder/Director, Love Me Tender Day Project at lovemetenderday@home.com. He is looking for regional coordinators throughout the world. A couple of Australian fan clubs are also organising trips to Memphis. |
