I chose these recordings, as (1) it is my opinion that Bill really asserts himself here as one of the great modern guitar innovators. (2) His approach to the standard tunes and progressions is fresh and original. (3) The material lends itself to study, as many of these tunes will be familiar to most jazz players. (4) I love this stuff. The following solo transcriptions can be considered a work-in-progress. It would be nearly impossible to capture all of the nuances of Bill's playing in standard notation. I encourage you to check out the recordings, and to merely use the transcriptions as a guide on your own path to discovery. |
