Up Photo Album Meet the Clowns Troop History

This troop came together as a Gold Award Project in January 1999.  After many months of planning, Alyssa, the Gold Award Applicant, called on several of her Girl Scout friends to form a clown troop. The troops main purpose is to provide community service to local hospitals and convalescent homes, while promoting older Girls in Girl Scouting.  Alyssa named the troop "Hearts of Gold", because of the significance of the Gold Award and the clowns giving their heart to their community.

The troop was trained by 3 professional clowns who donated their time to teach the girls and adults make-up techniques, gestures, balloon art, and special skills that make a clown.

After the completion of Alyssa's Gold Award Project in April, the troop  became Cadette-Senior Troop 1056, but retains the name "Hearts of Gold" Girl Scout Clown Troop.  Our troop crest is a gold metallic heart and we have become a permanent troop at San Gorgonio Girl Scout Council.  Our schedule is very busy, consisting of multiple visits to children and geriatric units of local hospital's, as well as introducing a special "clown" named Toby to the senior residents.

We'll be updating this page with our weekly visits.  Come back soon.
