The choreography is from central part of the R. Macedonia, exactly from the surrounding area of the town Veles. Blacksmith's handicraft is the one of the oldest for hand made home used vessels in Macedonia. The final stratum of the vessels was made by tin and the craftsman that was doing that job was called "tiner" (original - "kalajdzija"). That's how this dance was called "Kalajdzisko". |
The choreography is simulating the process of producing the vessels with the support of the dancers which are simulating the assistants. Typically for the dance is the solo part of the dancer simulating the main "tiner" who is singing very loudly song which should invite the people to tin their used vessels on the main square at the village. |
The dance is mixed, the costumes are stylized for the scene performing and with orchestra suite component of classical instruments like guitar, accordion, drum ("tapan") etc. At the final part the orchestra is full fill with "zurla" and "tapan". |
