The choreography "TESKOTO" descents from the west side of the R. Macedonia - from the part of the country which was settled with very poor population at the end of the 19th and at the beginning of the 20th century. Because of the configuration of the area (stone mountains), the male population couldn't be farmers and the unique way to ensure the existence of their families was to left their own homes and to go at foreign countries to work if they wanted to earn some money. |
This choreography symbolically presents the hard way of their living. Extremely difficult for performing, this choreography should be performed by experienced dancers only. The dance is performing with orchestra suite component of traditional specifically domicile instruments called: "zurla" and "tapan" (drum). The dancer's costumes are hand - made by natural materials (wool and cotton) and not stylized. |
"TESKOTO" - male folk dance |
Typical and extremely difficult part of the dance is the solo part of a dancer on the top of the instrument called "tapan" staying on a leg. This dance is unusual and very attractive for the foreign spectators. Ensemble "SKOPJE" is performing this choreography only in a specially occasion, performing with the male dancers of the first group. |
