Some minor announcements that needs to be passed along:
The party held on September 17th, at Beausejour Curling Club on Essex Street, from 8AM - 1PM, is now changed to Saturday, September 18th, at Beaver Curling Club on the corner of St. Georges Street and Enterprise Street, from 8PM - 1AM.
Votes will be counted on Thursday in Charlottetown, PEI. Because of that, our strike pay will no longer be 285.71$, but 250.00$ again.
Lastly, Headquarters is quietly cleaning itself out of the garage, so any lost items (mentioned on the phone was one pair of ladies' glasses and four umbrellas) or anything you lend to the union must be picked up no later than Wednesday. It is also requested that the pay sheet is returned by Thursday.
Have a good one! |

Some announcements I would like to share:
September 17th, at Beausejour Curling Club on Essex Street, from 8AM - 1PM, will hopefully be our victory party after the voting results are in.
There will also be a bonfire on September 12th, at 168 Pacific Junction Rd. / Barry Mills, Starting at 7:30PM. Bring your own booze and lawnchair!
Starting Monday, Headquarters will only be open from 8AM - 12PM. We will need to call headquarters after 12PM. There is also no more budget for roaming pickets. Doesn't affect us, but nice to know nonetheless.
Also, this week's strike pay will be of 285.71$ instead of 250.00$! Yay for us!
And finally, there's a union meeting on September 16th, at Norwood Ave, starting at 10AM in the Union Hall.
These announcements are posted on the Union's website.
That is all! Good day! |

Also, as you know, a tentative collective agreement between Aliant and the Union was reached on September 3rd, 2004. Union recommends accepting the contract. The documents are posted on the Union's website.
All moncton members are scheduled to vote Saturday, September 11, at 7PM in Delta Beausejour. You can vote elsewhere, but you will need to contact Headquarters for location and time. |

Mario sent the following e-mail:
Council of Atlantic Telecommunication Unions CATU Bargaining Update August 26, 2004
Today, the Union and the Company were told by the Federal Director of Mediation and Conciliation that the Minister of Labour wants the parties to meet in Halifax on Monday, August 30, 2004. CEP National President, Brian Payne, Ervan Cronk and Dean MacDonald will be meeting with representatives from the company. At the request of Brian Payne, the full bargaining committee will make itself available, on Monday, prepared to meet as necessary.
We would like to caution that it is still a preliminary process and we can not guarantee that it will come to a successful conclusion. However, be assured that we are fully prepared to make bargaining work and are committed to finding a satisfactory solution to our issues.
In solidarity, Your Bargaining Committee.
Pascal also sent a link that confirms the Mediation's efforts. Click here. |
