Eric Bynes of New Brunswick HS (Class of 2003)

The stars usually take the shots near the end, and they almost always move to their right on the way to taking those shots. What does that tell you about how to play defense when you find yourself in those situations? Force left, force left, force left. Even when a player starts to the left, he or she is very likely to come back to the right before shooting. (Of course the opposite is true if one of the stars is left-handed) Bynes is a point guard who can drive to the basket with either hand. The point guard is the true leader on the floor. Bynes has shown leadership as he was a key player as a freshman leading his high school team to the Central Jersey Group 1 Championship game, and as a sophomore he was a key addition to the New Brunswick High School Zebras during their Central Jersey Group 2 Championship run. Last season Bynes ran the point as the Zebras finished 20-5 with another Central Jersey Group II Championship. The Zebras were considered one of the top teams in the state of New Jersey for 2002-2003. The Zebras finish the 2002-2003 season with a loss to Neptune HS 49-42. Another great season ends with a 20-5 record.

Eric Bynes scores all 6 of his points in the 4th quarter to help in win over Bishop Ahr. Marvin Taylor scores 31, Bynes gets a bunch of assists in 23 point win. Bynes gets 9 assists and 5 steals in easy victory over cross-town rival Highland Park. Bynes has best game according to GMC Hoops in their game of the week against rival Colonia. Bynes scores 12 on 3 three's, and Jenkins scores 22 in the Zebras loss to rival Sayreville 51-43. Jenkins 15, Taylor 13, Bynes 8, Dotson 11...Zebras defeat Raritan in State Game. Dotson 14, Jenkins 13, Jarrett 10, Bynes 3 pts. and 6 assists. Zebras head to another CJ Championship game. Dotson, Taylor, Bynes and Byrom help Jenkins get his Championship varsity Jacket. Zebras 42 Carteret 36. Zebras season comes to a hault in losing to Middle Township.

2002-2003 Season Highlights The Zebras go 12-0 again in the Middlesex Cty Summer League. Eric Bynes takes home MVP of All Star Game. Zebras are 4-0 and are currently ranked 15th in New Jersey. Bynes scores 12 to help the Zebras win over Middlesex 83-39 Zebras hold on to defeat Bishop Ahr. Bynes hits 2 3's and scores 8pts. Bynes passes the ball as Zebras go over the Century mark 113-50 Eric Bynes knocks down 5 3's to help Zebras go to 8-0
