Bloodline

Family surrounds, as far as I see.
Graced in favour, or black in sight.
The meanest their legacy can light.
Unknown, my root upon that tree.

Do I cry, that sourceless is my soul?
Or fear life without sire or dam?
Or make my way as who I am,
Blood no more than part of my whole.

Whispers sound that I bear less worth.
To bastards do orphans seem low.
Blood will tell, and blood will flow,
Family blood proves family worth.

Those who raised me, gave me choice.
To them I turn to know my road.
At trial my blood and line were showed.
And pow'r gained to grant them voice.
