LOS MUSTANG (KNOWN AS THE SPANISH BEATLES" WERE THE "OFFICIAL" SPANISH GROUP WHO FIRST COVERED THE BEATLES' SONGS.
They were from Barcelona (Marco Rossi, Antonio Mercade, Miguel Navarro, Antonio Mier and the singer Santi Carulla). Their name was taken from a song by The Shadows.
EMI-ODEON, the record company that released the Beatles songs, was also their company. They released a lot of spanish cover versions before the release of original Beatles songs.
For this reason, they became very popular in Spain.
A curiosity: the Spanish version of Yellow Submarine (Submarino Amarillo) by Los Mustang was during a lot of years the hymn of a spanish football team from Valencia, the Villarreal, which players wore yellow clothes, as the submarine. Their mascot's name is Groguet, and its design represents the yellow submarine symbol, nickname of the team in the Spanish league.
