THIS IRREVERENT LITTLE GIRL WHO WORSHIPS THE BEATLES, HATES SUP AND IS CONCERNET ABOUT THE COLD WAR AND THE HEALTH OF PLANET EARTH WAS BORN IN 1962. HIS "FATHER" IS QUINO (JOAQUIN SALVADOR LAVADO).
I like the Beatles because they are very happy, they are in agreement with me in many things, and they play the music that the young people like. They should be presidents of the world, because they have influence on many people of all the countries "
Mafalda is obsessed with the bad shape the world is in; she wants to be an ONU translator, and intends to defuse conflicts by translating the ambassadors' insults into innocuous statements. SHE IS ALSO A BIG FAN OF THE BEATLES (EVEN IF SHE CAN'T UNDERSTAND THE WORDS) and a dutiful if sometimes sarcastic daughter. Her one weakness is soup-- she holds a grudge against the Swiss for having invented instant soup.
Quino decided to stop drawing Mafalda in 1973.
“The important thing is not what I think of Mafalda, but what Mafalda thinks of me,” said the writer Julio Cortazar about her.
