VICTORIA PRINCIPAL

Daughter of a U.S. Air Force Sergeant, she was born in FUKUOKA, Japan, on January 3, 1950, but months later her family moved to LONDON. The next years they moved constantly to other basecamps, from PUERTO RICO to MASSACHUSSETS, and she and her younger sister attended 17 different schools. She later lived with her parents in GEORGIA, where her mother REE VEAL came from, and began to work as a model at 5 for a commercial, and then on at high school. She studied at MIAMI-DADE COMMUNITY COLLEGE and her plans to study chiropractic medicine were frustated when she had a serious car accident at 18.

Then she left to NEW YORK and, after that, to EUROPE, where she worked as a model and actress. All this influenced in her attitude in life: she is open-minded and independent. All through the years, she has been a backgammon student, race car driver and, of course, an actress. Back to LONDON, she was accepted at the Royal Academy Of Ballet, being one of the few American students and took acting classes.

After being elected MISS MIAMI in 1969 and posing for the PLAYBOY magazine, she returned to L.A. in 1971, where she co-starred with PAUL NEWMAN in “THE LIFE AND TIMES OF JUDGE ROY BEAN” and was nominated for the GOLDEN GLOBES as the most promising actress for her performance.

“After that, people began to invite me to parties, but only because I was onscreen with a big actor in a big movie. Then I shot another unsuccessful film and my phone number went to the garbage.” At that moment she decided to study Law, since did not want to play again, but working as an artistic agent: “I was excited to be able to make my clients´ salary 3 times bigger in a matter of days. I was happier than the one to sign the contract.” But AARON SPELLING offered her an one-year tuition and a role on the FANTASY ISLAND Pilot. Then came the role that would make her famous all over the world: PAMELA, BOBBY EWING´s understanding wife.

During the shooting of one of the episodes, she met young actor CHRISTOPHER SKINNER, who played an uncredited role and would become her first husband. Anyway, their marriage only lasted 20 months, due to CHRIS´s possessive behaviour, as she stated. He was followed by pop singer ANDY GIBB, whose addiction caused the end of their relationship.

Her name had been related to well-known stars like FRANK SINATRA, ANTHONY PERKINS and ELLIOT GOULD. Eventually she got married on June, 1985, to plastic surgeon HARRY GLASSMAN. At the end of the same year, a damaged disc almost made her leave DALLAS. Her back problems had been originated by the accident she suffered at her school days. The same thing happened to her character PAM when, in 1987, VICTORIA decided to quit DALLAS, after 9 successful years, to re-focus her career as an actress and producer:

Nowadays she alternates her acting jobs with her activity on behalf of the arthritis´s victims, and helping abused women through the organization VICTORY OVER VIOLENCE. Besides to create a skin-care product line, she wrote 4 best-sellers about health and beauty, the last of them entitled “Living Principal”.

“I loved Pam as a character the first 5 first years of DALLAS. As the years went by and J.R. became more and more utterly evil, the writers chose to make PAM more and more utterly good. By the time I left, the only thing left to do was to become Mother Teresa. I have fond and loving memories of PAM, playing her changed my life.”
