THE "DALLAS"´S AWARDS

All through its run, DALLAS achieved 23 Emmy-Award nominations, the TV OSCARS. Of all the shows of its genre aired at the 80´s, it was the only one that got the backup of the prestigious awards. Not even its spin-off KNOTS LANDING (which we are also devoted fans of), achieved more than one EMMY (for JOEL ROSENBAUM´s music score) in spite of the critics´ benevolence to it.

THESE WERE THE "DALLAS"´S WINNERS:

- BARBARA BEL GEDDES (OUTSTANDING LEAD ACTRESS IN A DRAMA SERIES, FOR SEASON 2)
- BRUCE BROUGHTON (OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT IN MUSIC COMPOSITION FOR A SERIES, TWICE, FOR THE EPISODES "EWING BLUES" AND "THE LETTER")
- BILL TRAVILLA (OUTSTANDING COSTUME DESIGN FOR A SERIES, FOR THE EPISODE "SWAN SONG")

AND THESE WERE THE NOMINÉES:

- LARRY HAGMAN (LEAD ACTOR, TWICE, FOR SEASONS 2 AND 3)
- JIM DAVIS (LEAD ACTOR, FOR SEASON 3)
- BARBARA BEL GEDDES (LEAD ACTRESS, FOR SEASON 3)
- LINDA GRAY (LEAD ACTRESS, FOR SEASON 3)

THE OTHER NOMINATIONS WERE SHARED BY THE CREW: EDITING: FRED W. BERGER (3 TIMES), DRAMATIC UNDERSCORE: BRUCE BROUGHTON (TWO MORE NOMINATIONS), ANGELA MORLEY (TWICE), COSTUME DESIGN: TRAVILLA (ANOTHER NOMINATION), OUTSTANDING DRAMA SERIES (80 AND 81) AND 2 OTHER NOMINATIONS FOR "DALLAS: THE EARLY YEARS" (COSTUME DESIGN AND SOUND EDITING FOR A MINI-SERIES OR SPECIAL). Besides of the Academy of TV Arts and Sciences Awards, aka EMMYS, our favorite show achieved mant others all around the world. We shall mention the most important ones in USA only:

THE GOLDEN GLOBES AND OTHERS

Once again, it was great BBG who won most of them: she got 2 GOLDEN GLOBES for Best Lead Actress, the latter shared with DYNASTY´s LINDA EVANS. Likewise, it was nominated as best dramatic series 5 times, and also L. HAGMAN (3) and V. PRINCIPAL (1) got their nominations. The show achieved several PEOPLE´S CHOICE AWARDS as well and, incidentally, it was claimed as the best series in 1982 by the Spanish magazine TELEPROGRAMA.

The US magazine SOAP OPERA DIGEST, still being published, anually gave the Soap Opera Digest Awards since 1984, voted by its readers too. These are the SODA´s won by DALLAS:
- LARRY HAGMAN: Best actor (86) and villain (84,85,86,88 and 89). Nominated 3 more times, 2 as best supercouple in a soap (with LINDA GRAY) and one as best comic relief in a drama series (?!).
- PATRICK DUFFY: Best actor (85). Nominated 3 more times alone and once again, as best couple (with VP).
- VICTORIA PRINCIPAL: Nominated as best actress (86).
- LINDA GRAY: 2-time nominated as actress.
- BARBARA BEL GEDDES: Best actress in a “mature” (sic) role in 1984. Nominated as supporting actress 2 more times.
