YEAR 3 (AIRED ON 1980-81 SEASON):
Last Season´s cast remains at the opening titles. About the already known co-stars, MARY CROSBY will appear in 7 episodes, RANDOLPH POWELL in one, and SUSAN HOWARD almost in the whole Season, from #3 on, though now credited at the beginning of the episodes.
1/55: "NO MORE MR. NICE GUY”(I)

The cleaning woman finds J.R. lying unconscious on his office´s floor. Right away, he is driven to hospital in a critical condition. At SOUTHFORK, ELLIE asks RAY to help her to reunite the family. LUCY turns out to be in bed with her professor GREG FORRESTER, eventually knowing he is married.
BOBBY and PAM are tracked down by the Police on the highway to CALIFORNIA. KRISTIN rushes into the hospital to support ELLIE and JOCK, and check out where SUE ELLEN is...But SUE ELLEN is asleep in her car, parked at the Dallas Airport. When she wakes up, with a heavy hangover, she drives back to the ranch and finds her sister there.
KRISTIN tells her that J.R. has been shot and, the day before, she had been at her condo, drunk and holding a gun.
"I gave you another drink to calm you down, but you kept saying: "DUSTY would help me if he were here." SUE ELLEN starts to cry and rushes to the hospital too.
The welcome is rather cold:
"Your husband was shot and you were gallavanting around town...You´ll have to go back to the sanitarium." Shortly after, JOCK also mentions CLIFF as a possible suspect, which gets PAM angry.
CLIFF comes home without knowing where he has been and, later on, confesses PAM that he went at the Ewing Building to kill J.R. Meanwhile, J.R. has his spleen removed in order to save his life. When he comes to, silently accuses a frightened SUE ELLEN with his look...

2/56: "NO MORE MR. NICE GUY" (II)

Despite his blaming look, J.R. reveals that he could not see his assailant because it was too dark. When he hears the news on the radio, GARY visits his family and his brother at hospital, though VALENE assures that J.R. deserved something like this.
Some suspects are tracked down, like ALAN BEAM, who has an alibi, but others not, like banker LELAND. BOBBY convinces JOCK to let him take charge of the company´s chairman as long as J.R. is in hospital.
"EWING OIL already cost me one son and I won´t let BOBBY leave again," ELLIE had told JOCK a few days before. At her therapist´s, SUE ELLEN confesses that she came out of there on the shooting´s afternoon. She was determined to kill J.R. with the gun in her purse.
MARILEE STONE suits EWING OIL for her husband SETH´s suicide, being a member of the Cartel and one of J.R.´s victims. BOBBY´s first movement will be stop MARILEE, who will even try to seduce him through the process.
LUCY meets by chance MITCH COOPER, a parking attendant who is studying Medicine and rejects her first advance. CLIFF is taken to the police station since a gun is found in his apartment, but it IS NOT the one used to shoot J.R.
He undergoes a second operation to have the last bullet removed, after convincing SUE ELLEN of it. From the very moment he comes out the operating room, SUE ELLEN becomes J.R.´s shadow at hospital, guilt-ridden...

J.R. fights to overcome his paralysis, as BOBBY sees how his efforts to run E.O. have no outcomes. J.R. takes care of spoiling his plans even from his hospital bed.
SUE ELLEN struggles in her recurring nightmares, which tell her that she shot her husband. On the other side, CLIFF is dismissed as D.A.´s Assistant.
PAM gets a proposal to go work back at The Store. Unexpectedly, JOCK and ELLIE find the gun used to shoot his son in his closet. The fingerprints point at one family member as the guilty...SUE ELLEN.

4/58: "WHO DONE IT?"

J.R.´s wife is arrested, recorded and jailed. The Ewings refuse to bail her out, but even so, she is released. A new enigma is set out: Who has paid her bail?
Once on the street, SUE ELLEN begs KRISTIN to let her stay at her condo for a few days. “Stay as long as you like - she says with a fake smile – after all, what are sisters for?”
SUE ELLEN is convinced that she has to remember what happened the shooting´s day and agrees to go under hypnosis, by suggestion of Dr. ELBY...

5/59: "TASTE OF SUCCESS"

KRISTIN confesses in front of the family and the D.A.´s Assistant: upon a madeup story, she shot J.R. after being rejected by him. At the airoport, J.R. reports KRISTIN that he will send her 5000 dollars monthly until the baby is born. "I´ll be seeing you again, J.R."- she promises, before leaving.
BOBBY´s new chairmanship becomes so absorbing that both PAM and J.R. are affected by it. KRISTIN´s departure makes a twist in the couple´s relationship, as they get much closer. BOBBY fight to buy a refinery after failed attempts from J.R. and JOCK. BOBBY´s success obliges J.R. to get into action and get E. OIL back:
"I'll cut Bobby out even if I have to destroy EWING OIL to do it!"

6/60: "THE VENEZUELAN CONNECTION"

The serious conflict between J.R. and BOBBY puts the patriarch in a hard situation, not knowing which of them to take side on. Since BOBBY refuses to give the charge back to J.R., the latter decides to torpedo his brother´s expansionist venture.
Therefore he contacts alluring SALLY BULLOCK, whose shipping company BOBBY had turned to for his last business deal. SUE ELLEN accuses ELLIE of favoring her youngest son, but she assures that she will not let BOBBY go away again. At the same time, his relationship with PAMELA is beginning to get damaged.

7/61: "THE FOURTH SON"

The loss of 600.000 crude barrels makes J.R. rejoice, as it puts BOBBY in a compromising situation.
The oil was not insured and it may represent a big economical loss for E. OIL. To make things worse, comes up at SOUTHFORK an AMOS KREBBS, RAY´s father, of whom he knew nothing since he was 3.
AMOS will bring surprising news for the EWING family: JOCK had a son whose existence was unknown so far.
The patriarch reports his loved ones about the WW II affair he had with a nurse called MARGARET. Later on, she gave birth his fourth son, RAY KREBBS...

8/62: "TROUBLE AT EWING 23"

A blackmailer threats with blowing up one of the oil fields, EWING 23, co-owned by CLIFF. This fact gives J.R. the chance to renew his prestige at the company, using BOBBY once more time.
Meanwhile, foreman RAY is trying to fit in his new identity, but is afraid to lose DONNA´s affection, who feels attracted to CLIFF. On his own, J.R. decides to delay the arrival of the plane carrying the demanded 5 millions at the field.
When everything is ready to make the exchange, several policemen come out of the plane, to the blackmailer´s shock...and BOBBY´s too. Due to this, the man ends up killed, after blowing up the explosives to destroy the EWING 23 fields.

PAMELA thinks she finally found her mother when the detective asks her to join him at HOUSTON. All the clues lead to a woman called REBECCA WENTWORTH, married to a millionaire.
However her interview with her alleged mother ends with her hopes of finding her true origins: REBECCA absolutely denies to be person she is looking for...
On the other side, LUCY persuades MITCH to marry her.
Back to DALLAS, PAM receives REBECCA´s visit, who confesses to be her real mother but refuses to publicly accept them, afraid of losing a second family again: she never got divorced from DIGGER.

Meanwhile PAMELA is convinced that she has become secondary in her husband´s life. BOBBY wants to show him that she is the main thing to him, though the responsibility for the company weighs negatively...On the other side, LUCY announces her upcoming wedding with MITCH, and PAM seeks comfort in another man: ALEX WARD, a work collaborator who has noticed the trouble in paradise...

MITCH´s mother and sister arrive at SOUTHFORK for LUCY´s wedding. Surprisingly, J.R. seems to be greatly interested in them and her niece´s future. This makes him look as if he theorically were putting aside the schemes against BOBBY at E. OIL.
SUE ELLEN guesses the reasons: what he really wants is the groom´s sister, AFTON. In the meantime, ALEX keeps his interest in PAM. All of sudden, the situation takes an unexpected twist:
Offended by the EWINGS planning his future, MITCH decides to back up and cancel the wedding...

Once MITCH and LUCY work out their differences, the wedding takes place at last. The event raises a huge expectation, even bigger than expected.
SUE ELLEN discovers that J.R. has been overly kind to AFTON and seeks for the company of a former college boyfriend, CLINT OGDEN. DONNA tries to get closer to RAY, but unsuccessfully.
At the same time, J.R. is not satisfied with the way things are going at E. OIL, since BOBBY has avoided his last obstacle...before to give him back the charge. Another problem seems a menace to JOCK and ELLIE´s marriage: GARY tells them that, now that RAY is a EWING, he does not have to come back to SOUTHFORK anymore...

J.R. and BOBBY sign up the documents returning the company´s chairmanship to J.R. "Actually, I don´t know how your mind works", comments J.R. "Different from yours", a blunt BOBBY answers.
Right away, J.R. intends to offer his best look as a business man. Therefore, he hires a female P.R. from N.Y., LESLIE STEWART. At SOUTHFORK, things are not going too good: ELLIE is angry with JOCK for what happened with GARY.
PAM discovers that her sister-in-law is secretly dating CLINT OGDEN. "If you are married to a EWING, you´ve gotta live your own life", advises SUE ELLEN to PAM. Meanwhile J.R. plans to resume the business deals with the Cartel at any price. His objective: to get back the ASIAN fields...

J.R. is trying to regain his power even if he has to violate the laws. His greed is so high that he is planning to bring down the government that once nationalized his fields at South East Asia. Even so, he is aware that he might end up in prison.
PAM takes a job at the Gulf Coast, knowing that ALEX will be wooing her...
SUE ELLEN is beginning to suspect that J.R. has hired a detective to follow her again... "No, Sue Ellen, and wanna know why? Because I don´t give a damn of where you go or what you do..."

J.R divides his time between his P.R. and his usual battle against CLIFF. Now he is trying to sabotage his political career, but instead he makes him break up with DONNA.
However, he cannot help BOBBY becoming the new candidate for Senate, by request of DONNA. When PAM returns home, there are new arguments with BOBBY: the reasons, BOBBY´s new job and ALEX´s presence at the Gulf. In spite of it, PAM was faithful to BOBBY, and she does not hesitate to remind him that he was also dating JENNA the previous year...
SUE ELLEN contacts her lawyer and starts a quest leading to someone she presumed was dead.

SUE ELLEN is amazed to discover that her former lover DUSTY FARLOW could survive the plane accident...but he got paralysed and impotent, and does not want to see her again.
Trying to please his father, J.R. gets back the ASIAN fields thru a counter-revolution. However JOCK has a surprise of his own for the family, while DONNA and RAY are planning to marry.
Meanwhile LUCY gets a job as a model to help her work out her problems with MITCH.
On the other side, DUSTY and his father CLAYTON talk out SUE ELLEN to give up visiting them, since the woman´s constant presence reminds DUSTY "the only flaw he couldn´t overcome"...
"If you really love me, SUE ELLEN, then you´ll go away..."
”You´ll never know how much I love you...” – she replies in tears.

When she weds RAY, DONNA CULVER becomes the new Mrs. EWING. The couple´s joy for their marriage is not transmitted to the rest of the family...since the cold war between JOCK and ELLIE is getting worse.
LUCY is very happy to win the Miss Young Dallas title, thus making MITCH feel inferior again. BOBBY offers his brother-in-law the charge of legal advisor at the Senate, though he is more and more jealous of ALEX.
In order to solve the conflict once and for all, he calls on him and forbids him to keep dating his wife. A comment from his rival makes him understand that he has been devoting too much time to his job.
That evening, right before the dinner, ELLIE announces everybody that her environmental group has stopped the exploitation of the Takapa area. "You what?"- claims JOCK . "I am Takapa!"

BOBBY finds himself in a difficult situation torn between JOCK and ELLIE, as he belongs to the Senate Commitee deciding the future of TAKAPA. This is the swamp area that JOCK is planning to develop.
PAM starts a new relationship with her mother REBECCA, who wants to reconcile with CLIFF as well. SUE ELLEN is more and more needy of CLINT and MITCH and LUCY´s marriage is endangered due to her job.
Unaware of this, ELLIE feels resented with DONNA because she did not tell her about JOCK´s activities, though she knew it thru RAY. J.R.´s face changes her expression completely when LESLIE suggests him that she would be willing to marry him if he divorced SUE ELLEN..."I want to have it all – assures LESLIE – it´s up to you now, J.R."

New disagreements arise among the EWING clan, when JOCK tells he will sell out the company if ELLIE decides to divorce him. BOBBY feels divided again when the family learns that he is one of the members of the Commitee studying the Takapa Project.
REBECCA visits her son with a fake name and finds that PAM was right: CLIFF will never forgive her for abandoning them. At the same time, LUCY is unconsciously causing her marriage´s wreck.
J.R. does nothing to make his parents reconcile, otherwise he begins to scheme to sell EWING OIL to another company, proving how greedy he can be.

Due to EWING OIL troubles, J.R. has to make a drastic decision: selling the company to JEREMY WENDELL, from WESTSTAR OIL.
The appearance of LESLIE´s ex-husband exposes the woman´s strategy to get what she wants, not only from J.R. but also from other men. CLIFF is told by PAM that their mother is living in DALLAS.
DONNA and RAY try their best to reconcile JOCK and ELLIE, but they end up knowing other reasons for the couple to fight aside from TAKAPA. RAY decides to give away his share of the EWING fortune and leave the ranch, if that can help them from breaking up...
ELLIE realizes then that she blamed RAY and JOCK for GARY deciding about staying in CALIFORNIA at LUCY´s wedding.
"GARY doesn´t want to come back because he doesn´t feel well here - concludes ELLIE in tears, You are a EWING, RAY..."

21/75: "NEW BEGINNINGS"

JOCK and ELLIE´s desired reconciliation leads to a second honeymoon in Europe, so nobody wants to mention the selling of EWING OIL. J.R. feels menaced though: WESTSTAR OIL, through Chairman JEREMY, seeks revenge for J.R.´s back-up. DONNA warns J.R. not to involve her husband in the EWING business.
The situation gets worse with J.R. being manipulated by LESLIE. She is congratulated by her ex-husband. One night, a phone call from CALIFORNIA alteres the momentary calm enjoyed by J.R. and SUE ELLEN...
"It´s KRISTIN - she announces with a icy look - You´ve have another son, J.R."

KRISTIN´s return, after giving birth to a baby, causes a twist in the events. SUE ELLEN meets DUSTY again, who seems to be partially recovered from his paralysis. They agree to get back together and this time forever.
LUCY leaves the condo tired of arguing with MITCH. CLIFF uses the help of WESTSTAR OIL to have J.R. investigated by the Senate. At the same time, an interview with REBECCA makes CLIFF reconcile with his mother.
KRISTIN blackmails JORDAN LEE, making him believe that he is the baby´s father. "If I were you, I´d get off DALLAS before you meet J.R." "You´re right, JORDAN...I had already thought that."

J.R. must face plenty of troubles: on one side, he is in danger of losing EWING OIL due to his responsibility for the Asian affaire; on the other, he is planning to divorce SUE ELLEN and get JOHN ROSS´s custody.
KRISTIN´s appearance makes things worse, since she is coming with concrete ideas: "I want more. I have to pay for some habits I´ve adquired in California..."
Morally supported by DUSTY and his father CLAYTON, SUE ELLEN goes at SOUTHFORK seeking for JOHN ROSS. But J.R. stops her from leaving him and he orders to keep her away from there. When PAM defends her, an offensive J.R. assures: "Keep out my affairs or I'll destroy you! I'll destroy anyone who tries to take my boy away from me!”
At WASHINGTON, DONNA learns that RAY has taken 3 million dollar from their common account. But she ignores that RAY is associated with PUNK ANDERSON for a business deal and he needed to make a quick choice. "I think it´s time to get back to DALLAS...", DONNA murmurs. CLIFF is drugged by AFTON for J.R. and Captain McSween to take pictures of the documents delivered at the Commitee...
The hearing´s day, declaring against J.R. are MARILEE STONE, JORDAN LEE, CLAUDE BROWN, his Asian connection, and LESLIE STEWART. LESLIE presents a tape in which J.R. assures to have started the counter-revolution. But J.R. turns the situation to reverse and is called the Government of that certain country, proving that money was employed in a humanitarian way. Besides, J.R. assures that he lied so he could win LESLIE´s confidence...
The Commitee advises against judging E.OIL and sets J.R. free of every suspect. But CLIFF is afraid that BOBBY might pass the top secret dossier to him and makes an appointment with his brother-in-law. SUE ELLEN begs PAM to help her to take her baby out of SOUTHFORK. When J.R. knows, he calls his cop friend and asks him to track down PAM: "If you find her, tell me: I´ll take care of her..."
LESLIE eventually makes love with J.R. but she is hired by JEREMY at WESTSTAR as a P.R. When CLIFF comes to the ranch that night, he finds out a woman´s corpse in the pool. "She´s dead! – he claims before J.R. to see him up there, behind the broken baranda, “You bastard!"
