SPANISH FILE #1

STEVE KANALY (1983):

At the peak of DALLASīs success in Spain, STEVE KANALY was hired to film a commercial in our country, specifically in Barcelona. It was for a jeans brand, exclusive for one of the biggest Spanish stores. They did press ads too, and the actor was also asked to receive the Best Foreign Show Award voted by the readers of TV magazine "TelePrograma".

PATRICK DUFFY (1983):

Bobbyīs performer was also invited to Spain for business reasons, though he and his wife Carlyn did some tourism too. This time, the campaign was designed by Pepsi for Spain and Portugal, and Patrick appeared sitting by the Southfork pool. It all was about a sort of promotion contest with a big prize: two tickets to the ranch in Texas.

Patrick gave a press conference and was interviewed for one of the most-watched talk programs: "Estudio Abierto" (above pic). He and Carlyn were taken to see Madrid, as well as Toledo (below pics) and, of course, a typical flamenco show.

These were some of Patrickīs statements:

- "If I had a brother like J.R. in real life, I couldnīt stand him not even for 5 minutes."
- "I never speak of women or money."
- "Thanks to BOBBY, I can travel, I live better. Iīve got a job..."
- "Iīm not the father of J.R.īs baby!"
- "Iīd change my part so nobody could call Bobby dumb."

CHARLENE TILTON (1984):

On a very stressing promoting tour (for her record "Cīest la vie), ending with her meeting with the Pope, Charlene and her baby daughter Cherish arrived at Barcelona on April 23rd, 1984. She was interviewed by one of the top presenters in the new Catalan channel TV3, and even sang her title song on stage. After that, she played an in-joke scene with the host, who told her that J.R. was on the line (it was his dubbing actor, off-screen) and wanted to talk with her. "No way!", she said. Then "J.R." answered that "sheīs so stubborn" and that he was thinking about buying some off-shore fields on the Catalan coast...

These were some of Charleneīs statements:

- "Iīll stay on DALLAS until oil fields get dry!"
- "Lucy needs a lot of love, and tries to be good in the middle of J.R.īs business..."
- "I also need love, but I get it through you (to the presenter)and people like that wonderful singer..."
- "All the Dallasīs girls are the best friends, they treat me like a baby, because Iīm the youngest."
- "Iīd rather film on studio than on Dallas, itīs near home."
- "I havenīt been lucky with love, only with my (ex-)husband (Johnny Lee)."
- "You drink more here (than the Southfork inhabitors)...No, Iīm kidding...In real life, THEY DONīT DRINK."
