THE BOX CONTAIN A 4-PAGE BOOKLET WRITTEN BY HUGH MARSHALL, AND EACH SLEEVE CONTAINS NOTES BY HIM, TELLING THE STORY OF THE GROUP. ALL EIGHT SLEEVES CONTAIN A DIFFERENT PICTURE TO DEPICT THE PERIOD FROM WHICH THE SONGS ON EACH ALBUM WERE TAKEN, SLEEVE DESIGNS BEING UNDERTAKEN BY FRANK WATKIN OF OUT OF TOWN CREATIVE. AND THE TRACK SELECTIONS WERE COMPILED IN CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER BY SIMON SINCLAIR.
EACH CASSETTE IN THE BOX IS A SELECTION OF SONGS FROM EACH OF THE BEATLES ORIGINAL ALBUMS, PLUS THE SINGLES AND TWO EPs. IN TOTAL THE SET CONTAINS A SELECTION OF 124 CLASSIC AND RARE SONGS.
TEN YEARS AFTER THE BEATLES' SPLIT, AND AFTER MANY YEARS OF NEGOTIATION, WORLD RECORDS WERE GIVEN THE RIGHT TO RELEASE THIS BEATLES' BOXED COLLECTION (LPs AND CASSETTES BOXED SETS)
IT WAS A COLLECTION OF COMPLETELY NEW ALBUMS, IN NEW SLEEVES AND A HIGHLY ORIGINAL BEAUTIFUL SIMULATED HARDWOOD SEALED BOX.
THE COLLECTION WAS ADVERTISED FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THE NATIONAL PRESS ON NOVEMBER 5, 1980.
IT WAS ONLY SOLD BY MAIL ORDER.
THE PRICE WAS REASONABLE AND SURELY ITS SALES WERE INCREASED BY THE TRAGIC DEATH OF JOHN LENNON.
