What would the world do without International Rescue?  This Supermarionation television series created by Gerry Anderson debuted on the BBC in 1964.  Multi-millionaire ex-astronaut Jeff Tracy commands an organization that intervenes in any disaster situation beyond the capability of standard rescue measures.  The job of piloting the Thunderbird crafts falls to his five sons:  Scott, Virgil, Alan, Gordon, and John.  Chief Engineer Brains keeps the ships in top notch shape and his unconventional inventions have clinched the rescue efforts any number of times.  International Rescue is also aided by the delectable British spy Lady Penelope and her trusty butler Parker.  When IR isn't staving off runaway monorails or trying to beat the clock to save trapped civilians, it's foiling the plans of the nefarious criminal The Hood.

The special effects for Thunderbirds are F.A.B.  In this show, the family that saves together stays together.  And nowhere else will you find cigarette-smoking, cigar-chomping marionette puppets.
