Felicity Waterman |
Biography |
(From www.pensacolatv.com) British Actress Felicity Waterman joins the cast of Pensacola: Wings of Gold in this season as Captain Abigail Holley, a skilled, stunning helicopter pilot on loan from the Royal Air Force. "She's feisty, a bit of a tomboy, a real fireball," says Waterman of her character, who's even chosen to be the squadron's boxing coach. "She's working-class English, from the wrong side of the tracks, and probably has come further than she ever expected. She's funny too, especially when she gets excited. That's when she just talks and talks." Although her character starts out with the call sign "Cricket," it's quickly changed to "Mad Dog" due to her fearless enthusiasm. Waterman, however, has a weakness Holley definately does not possess: a fear of flying. "I even cry when I go up on a Ferris wheel," she says. "Fortunately, working on Pensacola, I have just the right motion sickness medication so I can keep my lunch down and be able to say my lines. I actually like flying now. It's fun. But it's been a process of trial-and-terror." Born and raised in England, Waterman does the military milieu with her character. Waterman's father was in the British Army, her grandfather flew Spitfires during World War II and her godfather served in the Falklands War. (Her mother teaches children with learning disabilities.) Now that she's playing a military officer, Waterman gets some of the technical advice she needs right from home. She notes, "Daddy is always calling to tell me what my character should be wearing, including how my hair and make-up should look." After attending boarding school in Somerset, England, Waterman focused on athletics, but a back injury curtailed a promising career as a high jumper. Switching to a more academic course of study, she entered Oxford University, where she majored in geography. After graduating, she began modeling as a way to see the world and was eventually brought to Los Angeles by the prestigious Elite Agency. Modeling led to numerous television commercials and then, acting opportunities. Waterman's television credits include the mini-series Titanic, with George C. Scott and Catherine Zeta-Jones, and the series Knots Landing, Thunder in Paradise, and Buddy Faro. She has guest-starred in La Femme Nikita, Pacific Blue, Weird Science, Ellen, Northern Exposure, Babylon 5, Baywatch Nights, SeaQuest DSV and Anything But Love. She recently starred in the independent action-adventure feature Freedom Strike with Michael Dudikoff and Tone Loc. Her other film work includes Die Hard II, Unlawful Passage, Miracle Beach, Lena's Holiday, Space Case and Night Warrior. During her free time, Waterman enjoys throwing pottery and turning wood, and Yoga has become her passion. When not filming Pensacola, she lives in New York City. |
