World class musicians join Aisha Angela Taylor in Concert

The Soulful Expression, one of Canada’s only African-American owned music companies will present: Aisha Angela Taylor song stylist, storyteller, musician and composer, in concert this Friday, November 24, at Northern District Branch Library, 40 Orchard View Boulevard (Yonge at Eglinton) beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Taylor will be presented on vocals at the grand piano, keyboards and on percussion. She will be performing music from her live CD "The Soulful Expression of an African from America", as well as other traditional soul Music, blues, and jazz standards. The music from her CD has been described as something “that flows through your body like a warm summer’s day”, and “from the gut” combining African culture with the genius of 20th century African-American music.
World-class musicians from the African Diaspora, who are
now living in Canada, will join Aisha including American William Carter on bass.
Carter, whose influences include Stanley Clark and others, has toured the
U.S., Canada, and Europe. Cameroon-born
Njacko Backo, the traditional African multi-instrumentalist, instrument-maker
and storyteller will appear on percussion.
This evening promises to be a must for anyone wanting to
experience some of Toronto’s only authentic
African-American
soul, blues and jazz music played by musicians from the African Diaspora.

Aisha
Angela Taylor has lived in Toronto, since 1998.
In addition to being a performance artist, she is an anti-war, civil and
human rights activist and is seeking political refugee status.
