Bianca Halstead aka Bianca Butthole - Lead Singer& Bassist of Betty Blowtorch
Betty Blowtorch singer and bassist Bianca Halstead died on Saturday (15th December) when the car in which she was travelling went out of control new New Orleans. She was 36. Halstead was riding in a speeding car driven by William McAllister following a Betty Blowtorch show at a club in downtown New Orleans. Witnesses estimated the car was travelling at more than 100 mph when it sideswiped another car before skipping across a grass median on Interstate 10 and into oncoming traffic, hitting a car driven by Robert Fenkell of Colorado Springs. According to local police, McAllister had been drinking. Both McAllister and Fenkell survived the crash with injuries not thought to be life threatening. Charges against McAllister are pending completion of an accident investigation. Bianca Halstead formed the LA-based Betty Blowtorch in 1998 following the demise of her hardcore punk outfit Butt Trumpet. The band recently received national exposure during the Warped Tour and this summer appeared in the movie Bubble Boy.
