Maude blames male menopause when Walter starts smoking a pipe, wearing 2" wedgies, and neglecting his "husbandly duties." Maude goes to talk to Arthur about the fight he and Vivian had, and returns home with Arthur to find Walter and Vivian kissing. Maude and Arthur get very upset, thinking their marriages are over, only to have Walter and Vivian explain it was out of comfort for each other.

Maude hires a blunt British woman, Mrs. Naugatuck, as a new live-in maid. The two clash over both being so blunt and outspoken. Mrs. Naugatuck treats Walter as "master" of the house, which makes Maude dislikes her even more, but the two finally come to terms.
