--------The story of our trip to England, 1992

Map of England by www.sacred-destinations.com This was my third trip to England and the first one with my wife Tara. We were married the previous year. This was our first trip overseas and Tara's first trip in this country. One of the places we visited that I had never been before was Madame Tussauds wax museum. We paid 6 pounds 40p. We took pictures of all the “stars” of the time such as Mister T, Crocodile Dundee, Martina Navratilova, Marilyn Monroe,Grace Jones, Yasser Arafat, Gorbachev, and our very own Brian Mulroney.

We visited the famous Trafalgar Square and its giant lions and the statue of Nelson, Big Ben and the Parlament, Buckingham Palace and a few more sights. We took an heritage bus. It stops in front of the main monuments in the city. It's a cheap way to see London.

I was lucky enough to help some young punks. This type of culture was strong in London at the time. For a few pounds you could get your picture taken with them.

There was one bomb alert that I was afraid. I was inside of Victoria Station and Tara was out. She was only a few feet away from me. The police closed the station. She was outside and I was inside. Like in a jail we were separated. I just had enough time to scream to Tara where we should meet later. The police did not care that we were together they simply closed the gate.

We stopped at a bucket shop to buy our plane tickets from Lisbon to London.

On our way back from Portugal. We stayed at the hotel Mowbray Court in London by Earl’s Court we paid 38 pounds. We did not even have a private bathroom. I remembered taking $ 200.00 at the beginning of the day and everything was gone in few hours. Your dollar does not go very far in London.

We were happy to take the train out and we later took the ferry to Oostende Belgium.
