Pictures of Biarritz, summer of 2006

We left San Sebastian and arrived in Biarritz in the French Pays Basque only 18 km away from the spanish border. We parked our car not far from the beach in a small parking. We reached the cliff and there we were blessed with a world-class view. In front of us we could see the Bay of Biscayne with its main pearl the beach which is called La Grande Plage. This is one of the most famous beaches of Europe, in some way I found it more attractive than Nice. Biarritz has won many prices of excellence for its beaches. Monarchs from Europe have been regular visitors. At the end of the beach there is even a palace that was built by Empress Eugenia and Napoleon III. I liked watching the surfers. I was swimming in that area when I was told to move away. This zone was for surfers only. We spent a very enjoyable afternoon near the island rock. Isabelle enjoyed her icecream before we left towards Bordeaux.
