[10
pages of a study inspired by a teaching given by Annette L., with the added
help of side notes of The Companion Bible, by E. W. Bullinger, shared
partially in the house of Tim on Dec 28, 2003]

had lived with his father = 110 years the total years of the life of Joseph).
He was not consumed with bitterness, he kept his heart towards God."
Genesis 41:51-52
And Joseph called
the name of the first-born Manasseh: For God said he:
"Hath made me
forget all my toil, and all my father's house."
And the name of
the second called he Ephraim:
"For God hath
caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction."

because of the context)"

"6) Your
Glory is in Him, not in your own power, strength, or riches"

thee", this promise first made to Jacob (Gen. 28:15), and was passed
on by Moses (Deut. 31:6).

with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest,
and will bring
thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that
which I have spoken to thee of.
"I will
not leave thee", this promise first made here to Jacob, for covenant

Psalm 56:4
In God I will
praise His word,
In God I have put
my trust;
I will not fear
what flesh can do unto me.
"Flesh",
put by Fig. Synecdoche (of Part), for "man", as seen in Ps.
56:11.
Psalm 56:11
In God have I put
my trust:
I will not be
afraid what man can do unto me.
"Put my
trust" = Confided.

= A man (no Art.)
Romans 8:5
For they that are
after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh;
but they that area
after the Spirit the things of the spirit.
"Are" =
i.e. Live.
"Do
mind" = Set affection on (Gr. phroneo)
Romans 8:6

spiritually minded is life and peace.
"To be

Colossians 3:2
Set your affection
on things above, not on things on the earth
"Set your
affection on" = Mind (Gr. phroneo).

= In.

lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any
virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
"Honest"
= Honourable, venerable, grave.
"Think
on" = Take account of (Gr. logizomai).

Now the God of
patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another
according to Christ Jesus.
"Consolation"
= Comfort.
"Mind"
in "Likeminded" is Gr. phroneo.
"One...
another" = Among yourselves.
"The purpose
of the adversary is to separate us!"
Romans 8:11
But if the Spirit
of Him That raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you,
He That raised up
Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies
by His Spirit that
dwelleth in you.
Romans 8:16
The Spirit itself
beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God.
"Spirit itself"
= Spirit Himself.
Romans 8:17a
And if children,
then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ...
"Then
heirs" = Heirs also.
"Heirs of
God" = Heirs indeed of God.
"Joint-heirs"
= Gr. sunkleronomos, as in:
Hebrews 11:9
By faith (believing)
he (Abraham) sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country,
dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same
promise.
"Tabernacles"
= Tents.
"Heirs with
him" = Joint-heirs, Gr. sunkleronomos,
also as in:
Ephesians 3:6
That the Gentiles

Christ by the gospel.
"That the
Gentiles" is the subject of the revelation of "The Mystery" that
God had hidden from eternity.
"Of the same
body" = Members-of-a-joint-body. Gr. sussomos (only here). Not
joined on to an existing Jewish body, but a new body "of the twain."

as all the texts.
"Christ",
the texts read Christ Jesus.

heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.
"Dwell
with" = Gr. sunkoieo (only here).

Romans 8:17b
...if so be that
we suffer with Him, that we may be also glorified together.
"Him"
is in italics, so it was added by the translators.
E. W. Bullinger
(in The Companion Bible, page. 1678) studied, regarding that
"suffer with" (Gr. sumpascho), that the "suffering
together with" (Him) here, is that of Rom. 6:3,4,6,8,11, and noth
the "sufferings (Gr. pathema, a different word than sumpascho)
of this present time" of the next verse (Romans 8:18).
Romans 6:11
Likewise reckon ye
also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus
Christ our Lord.
"Also
yourselves" = Yourselves also.
"Through"
= In.
"With Christ
identify ourselves in his past sufferings but also in his upcoming glory, so do
we need to do it with any other member in the body of Christ."
The Greek word sumpascho
("suffer with") is also present only in another verse:
1 Corinthians
12:26
And whether one
member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all
the members rejoice with it.
"Whether"
= If at least.
"Suffer with
it" = Suffer together (Gr. sumpascho).
"Honoured"
= Glorified (as Christ, our head, the first member of the body of Christ, of
which we are members).
"With
it" = Together.
Romans 8:26
Likewise the
Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as
we ought:
but the Spirit
Itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
"Infirmities",
the texts read "Infirmity" (in singular, is one infirmity being
emphasized here "for we know not what we should pray for as we
ought").
"Groanings"
= Gr. stenagmos. Only here and in Acts 7:34 ("I have seen the
affliction of My people which is in Egypt, and I have heard their groaning
(groanings, is plural), and am come down to deliver them...").
"Which cannot
be uttered" = Unutterable. Gr. alaletos (only here). According to
the careful reading of scriptures, V. P. Wierwille deducted that these specific
"Groanings which cannot be uttered" (the groanings of the Israelites
in Egypt where uttered, but these specific, mentioned in Rom. 8:26,
"cannot be uttered") are the potential of every born again believer
to speak in tongues (as 1 Corinthians chapters 12-14 and many other places in
the Epistles does indeed teach).
Romans 8:27
And He That
searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because He
maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
"And" =
But.
"He" =
i. e. God.
"Mind" =
Gr. phronema (as Rom. 8:6,7).
"This
"Intercession for the saints", which is perfect, can only be done
"by the spirit within us", which is manifested when we speak in
tongues for them and their needs."
"At any
moment, when we speak in tongues, the ever presence of God is reminded to us by
the gift of the spirit of God that is holy and that dwells in us."
Romans 8:31
What shall we then
say to these things?
If God be for
us, who can be against us?
"Be" = Is.
"Can
be" = Is.
"God is FOR
us."
Romans 8:35
Who shall separate
us from the love of Christ?
shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution,
or famine, or
nakedness or peril, or sword?
"Distress",
rendered "Anguish" in Rom. 2:9 ("tribulation and anguish,
upon every soul of man that doeth evil...")
"Who shall
separate us from the love of Christ?, is not him from us but us
from him"
"Tribulation"
= Mental pressure.
Romans 8:36-37
As it is written,
"For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep
for the slaughter." NAY;
In all these things
we are more than conquerors through Him That loved us.
"As" =
Even as.
"For thy
sake" = On Thine account.
"For
the" = Of.
"More than
conquerors" = Gr. hupernikao, only here.
Romans 8:38
For I am
persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor
powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
"Neither...
nor" = Gr. Oute.
Romans 8:39
Nor height, nor
depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of
God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
"Creature"
= Created thing (as in Rom 8:21 ("...the creature itself also shall
be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the
children of God").
Our only way to win is to draw close to God.
