ABSTRACT:
This article describes a new family of
artificial heterotranscripts or chimeric mRNAs, composed by thousands of Genbank
sequences including traces or all of the EcoRI related palindromic linker, a 22-mer attaching in one RNA strand
fragments of two or more different genes. These sequences containing a linker
as its common denominator have been found both in the popular Affymetrix
oligonucleotide microarrays, and in many published articles in which the
sequences include the linker inside its coding region, or in the 5’ or 3’
sides. Here is the evidence of them as being experimental artifacts.

Result: 2170 Blast Hits (corresponding only to named sequences non repeated, nr). Search done in March 15, 2004. In April its presence in Genbank increased.
