Peeking from his burrow

scanning the terrain

wanting to make a breakfast run

before it starts to rain

half way out now

it blinks to the morning's dawn

contemplating

that all predators are gone

He scampers, and scurries

to the fallen nuts there on the sand

fluffs his tail

and waves it like a miniature fan

then back to his safe haven

as the rain now starts to beat

this time He has made it

life is oh so sweet

one more pop up

to dampen his tired brow

off to feed the family

He will stay inside for now.
