| Ankara-born Ümit Özat began his professional career with Gençlerbirligi
SK. He made his first team breakthrough in the 1997/98 campaign. In 2000/01 he was loaned to Bursaspor where he
made 24 appearances before moving to Fenerbahce SK in a permanent deal believed to be worth $1.5m. After seven
appearances for Turkey at under-21 level, Ümit was promoted to the senior squad. An accomplished defender,
he is also a threat whenever he decides to venture forward. |
