FennecTheFox's Strategy Guide
Welcome to FennecTheFox's Zerg Strategy guide. Forward by Candle: I've known FennecTheFox for almost two years now. We met originally on battle.net where I noticed that he lived near me in Vancouver, Canada. Fennec impressed me a great deal because he is not only a great Starcraft player, but he's also a really nice guy. He's always trying to improve by playing people better than him, and he has a good attitude towards the game - playing for fun and the challenge of the game. He doesn't trash talk a lot like some other great players, and he doesn't get a big ego about the fact that he's good at this game. Despite the fact that he won the stimmed.com tournament, the COP tournament, has a 1300+ ladder rating, and is #1 on the CloudMania team BW ladder at the time of this writing. Possibly the most impressive thing about Fennec is his understanding of strategic principles behind the game of Starcraft. When I first met Fennec, he could beat me about 70% of the time using superior strategy. At the time he had not yet adapted to using hotkeys, and so he did most of his unit control with only a mouse. This was very humbling for me, as I always liked to think of myself as having a good strategic sense - but Fennec showed me that strategy goes beyond simply build orders, unit counters, unit mixing and micromanagement. Starcraft also has to do with overall timing, formations, distractions and other higher-level concepts. What this means is that even though I had greater unit control with my combination of hotkeys and mouse, he succeeded in beating me through superior strategy. Fennec has since become a top-tier player, having now mastered all aspects of the game, from intense micro battles to extreme macro and the meta-game. In reading this strategy guide I am convinced that we are only scratching the surface of what Fennec is knowledgable of - but for those of us who aspire to be better - it will have to do. - Wyatt a.k.a.
