There was another company in the UK called Fiberfab (among other names) and they built a dune buggy called the RAT. This company is not releated to Fiberfab Inc. or Fiberfab Germany. Here is some interesting information about that company provided by Gary of GarysBeachBuggy.co.uk: ----------------------------- The company that built the RAT buggies started in about 1970 and was known as FiberFab of Wokingham, it was started by 3 friends, and the car they produced was called the rat, because of the 3 makers first names (Robert, Anthony and Trevor) They started building the buggies just after the buggy boom of the late 60's, in a hut on a pig farm!, they moved premasise a few times in the 70's as the buggy boom came back, in about 1974 they bought out the mark 2 buggy, and at about that time, Robert and Trevor departed the company, Anthony continued to make the buggies, as well as other fiber glass body panels for VW beetles, as well as industrial fiber glass work, In '79 the mark one short wheel base buggy was withdrawn, as it was found the moulds were severely warped, a Swedish customer bought the moulds in a last ditch attempt to make another buggy for him self, it's not known if he did manage it, or what happened to the moulds after that, In the 80's, Anthony finally gave up, and handed the company over to Tim and sue Cooksey, who re-named it to FF kit cars and conversions, they got rid of the RAT, and produced the FF buggy by fiberfab, (which was made famous by a UK TV series in the late 80's called Challenge Aneka, with Aneka Rice, 3 of the buggies were used as transport for aneka and the film crew), The FF company then changed hands again, and was re-named country Volks in about 1992, and that's where the UK fiberfab beach buggy company died. However Anthony emigrated to Australia, and took an early rat with him, and i got an e-mail from him a few years ago, and he's currently thriving making fiberfab rats in Australia, The FiberFab rat was exported to places like Spain, the canary isles, Germany, Denmark the middle east and Israel, The FF buggy's made it to Sweden, Holland, Spain and Kuwait.
