Su-7 is a single-engine aircraft. The fuselage
is very long and round. A cone is protruding from the circular air intake
in the nose. Engine exhaust occupies the rear of the fuselage. Tail fin
is very tall and swept. Wings are swept along both leading and trailing
edge, and so is the tail plane. Guns are mounted in the wings near the
fuselage. Canopy overlooks the nose. Main landing gear retracts in the
wings. The development of Su-7 began in the early 1950's. First prototype
called S-1 "Strela" made its first flight in 1955. The prototype came out
to be very promising and Su-7 went in production several years later. Main
modifications were Su-7B and Su-7BKL. The airplane was exported to Czechoslovakia,
Poland, Romania, China, Egypt, India and other countries.
