Blackspot Snapper* Dory Snapper Lutjanus fulviflamma Lutjanidae [Snappers] 24.1 cm [max to 35 cm] 6.5 cm 245 gm Marine, brackish 3 to 35 m Commercial Fisheries; Commercial Aquaculture Yes. This fish was caught around Horsburgh area, east of Singapore. Reef-associated. Big eyes. Pinkish-brown or white overall, darker on upper back. A series of 6 or 7 yellow stripes, mainly below lateral line. Scale rows on back rising obliquely above lateral line. Black spot on lateral line. All fins & belly are yellowish. Dorsal spines:10, rays:12-14 ; Anal spines:3, rays:8. *There's another snapper species, lutjanus ehrenbergi, which have the same FAO name of 'Blackspot Snapper'. Look similar, differs by having scale rows running parallel to the lateral line. |
