Belgian Company Ebs produced a limited number of convertible Renault Fives (1400 in total) almost all of them being Left Hand Drive. The cars were only available through tuning specialists Radbourne Racing. The cars were quite highly priced - on top of the original purchase price you had to add £3000 for a manual hood or £4000 for an electric hood. Only 33 EBS Convertibles were ever ordered from the UK.
The Five Convertible didn't have the usual roll-bar ascociated with most Cabrios of the time, and there were no quarterlights, making for clean lines. Unlike other 3-door Fives, the rear windows could also be wound down to create the convertible effect. The desighn is such, that with the hood up the car maintains the lines of the 3-door hatchback. |
