Cam: Racer Brown with stock M/P valve gear.
Heads: Stock "X" heads with hardened seats.
Induction: Factory iron dual plane w/ 625 cfm Carter AVS.
Exhaust: Iron H/P manifolds w/ 2 1/4" pipes and Dyno Max Super Turbo mufflers.
Trans/Gear: 727A w/ M/P kit, 3.91 Sure-Grip
Tires/wheels: 14x5.5" steel rims with 205R70-14 BFG Radial T/A. Best ET/MPH: 13.26 @ 103.46 mph/ 1.96 60ft. in Pure Stock trim at Milan Dragway 10-18-08!! We purchased our GTS in 1996. I drove it for the first summer we owned it, and then it was time to start rebuilding! WHEW! Didn't know what we were getting into! I found that the GTS must have had at least 386 previous owners by the amount of modifications that had been made to it!! What a MESS! But , it is now completed. I have learned alot about the hobby, and a lot about "professional" services available! It seems that my list of vendors who NOT to deal with, is longer than my list of folks we had a pleasure doing business with. We have also happily experienced what a tight-knit group of enthusiasts that make up the MOPAR hobby! What dedication! The "web" has been a great help in locating parts for our GTS. It really is an "International" car now! More importantly, we have met with a GREAT bunch of folks over the 'net. Some we have just done business with, and others have become GOOD friends!
Lately, I have become involved with the Pure Stock Drag Racing and F.A.S.T. Racing organizations. These are the two perfect types of venues for restored muscle cars like my GTS. Pure Stock is for exactly that, PURE STOCK American made muscle cars built between 1955 and 1974. The cars are raced just like they left the showroom floor when new! Quite an amazing assortment of rare and beautiful cars show up for this event. It's like going to a restored concours type auto show, where the participants flog their cars on the 1/4 mile drag strip. No car is too rare, or too valuable, not to have its muscles flexed by the proud owners. F.A.S.T. stands for Factory Appearing Stock Tire. These cars are one ( or two or three ) steps past the Pure Stockers. These F.A.S.T. cars must appear to be factory fresh ( just like in Pure Stock ) but they may run any type of internal mechanical modifications. Most of the cars are running stroker engines! It really is a FUN sport!!
