Out of Wonder World I think you come;
For in your eyes the wonder comes with you.
The stars are the window of Heaven,
And sometimes I think you peep through.
Oh, little girl, tell us do the flowers
Tell you secrets when they find you all alone?
Or the birds and butterflies whisper
of things to us unknown?
Or do angel voices speak to you softly,
When we only hear a little wind sigh;
And the peaceful dew of Heaven fall upon you
When we only see a white cloud passing by?

Fairy Flowers

If you have some old-fashioned flowers in your garden,
surely fairies might be tempted to come out in their
midst. In the language of flowers, the foxglove reigned
as the fairies' flower. They were also known as Fairies'-
petticoats, Fairy caps, Fairy-thimbles, or Fairy-bells.
It was said that if you noticed a foxglove bending over,
it was certain there would be a fairy hiding within.
Or perhaps you have some sweet peas by whose fragnant blooms
you could set up a wee table for fairies. Keats said about them:
"Here are sweet-peas on tip toe for a flight,
The wings of gentle flush, o'er delicate white;
And taper fingers catching at all things
To bind them all about with tiny rings."

Do you have fairies in your gardens? Meowmie's
human daughter Nancy and granddaughter Marissa
believe that there are fairies living in their
herb garden. Tasha Tudor has planted a fairy ring
garden amongst her several gardens in Vermont.
Cicely Mary Barker, a children's book author and
illustrator published several books on flower fairies.
Kate Greenaway, a children's book illustrator and poet
was a contemporary of Cicely Mary Barker.

Meowmie has introduced her granddaughter Marissa to flower
fairies by giving her several Cicely Mary Barker books to read.

A fun activity for you this month is to submit articles,
pictures, links, or your very own stories about fairies
in your gardens. I believe that there are fairies in my
rose and herb gardens.
