All About ME!

ICQ #12590166

Hi! I'm 20 years old. I was born in Burlington, Vermont and lived in Vermont until I moved to Montreal when I was 7. I'm a sophomore at the University of New Hampshire, who are NCAA Women's Hockey Champions for 1997-98 and most recently Men's Hockey East Champions for 1998-99. Both team also made it to the NCAA finals but lost in overtime in the 1998-99 season. I'm an Athletic Training major who one day aspires to be seen behind the bench of an NHL team.

In my first season (1995-96)I played right wing and had 5 goals and 25 assists. The year after, I asked my coach if I could switch to center, but he rejected my offer. I was really frustrated with the whole hockey thing that year because I was expected to be a leader, but my coach never encouraged me, he just yelled. Needless to say I was an insult to the game of hockey that year netting just one goal(atleast it was a game winner) and decreasing in the assist department to just 5 on the season. So there went my big idea of being a playmaker. I almost quit, but I loved the game too much so I had to stick with it.

My senior year in high school I made my long-wanted move to center when I moved to the States for high school. I felt right at home taking the face-offs, which I hardly ever lost, and being the boss on the ice. In thanks to my coach for letting me play center, I responded with 25 goals and 28 assists, leading my team in both departments. My goals last season were to have 20 goals, 50 points, and more assists than goals. I accomplished all of them. In the state tournament, where we placed 3rd, I received my first ever MVP, despite playing with a chipped bone in my wrist suffered during the game (I still have a bump on my wrist from that nice slash). In our own tournament I won another MVP in the final game, which was kind of strange because it was the only game in that tournament where I didn't score. I was told my penalty killing was the deciding factor where in overtime I was told to stay on the ice for a 5 on 3 because of a pair of double minors, and then another penalty, I was out there for about 4.5 minutes straight and I didn't miss my next shift. This past year of hockey helped me a lot because it boosted my confidence, and really helped me remember how much fun being a member of a hockey team really is. I played ringette for 4 years before I played hockey. I often found myself in the penalty box in ringette, but in hockey over 3 sesons, I've only compiled 23 PIM. You could say that I'm hooked on hockey!

I'm going to be playing either on a club team or an intramural team. As long as I get to play, I'll be happy.

I admire almost all hockey players because they realize how great this game really is. I do, of course, have a few favorites. My first and foremost favorite since 1991 is John LeClair. he started off being my favorite player just because we are from the same state and is the first and only Vermonter ever in the NHL. When I was in 7th grade people used to laugh at me because John was my favorite. Then came the 1993 playoffs where he scored back-to-back overtime goals and lost by only one vote to Patrick Roy for the Conn Smythe. People didn't laugh at me as much, but they still told me that that was all he'd ever do in his career. After back-to-back-to-back 50 goal seasons...guess who's laughing now!?! Eric Lindros is my number 2 guy. At first the whole Nordiques thing sort of angered me, but I soon forgot about it all during the Canada Cup. Who can hate a guy that separated Ulf Samuelsson's shoulder with a single clean bodycheck? I know I can't!!! He has it all...skating, shooting, pass accuracy, hockey sense, defensive ability, special teams ability and a physical prescence. He truly is a complete player. My favorite goalie is, of course, Ron Hextall. He may not be the most consistent goaltender, but he's so loyal to Philadelphia. He hardly seems to worry about how much he's making like most players do. I admire his love and dedication to hockey and the Flyers organization. The guy is truly a class act. I'm also a fan of women's hockey. Cammi Granato is amazing. She's sort of the woman to look up to for American female players since she was the first female player really know in the U.S. I also Like Karyn Bye. Out of all the women's players, she is the person who I can best relate my style of play to. She can handle the physical part of the game...but she still knows how to find the net.

Outside of hockey, I play softball at first base. I also love watching tennis. My favorite players are Patrick Rafterand Andre Agassi. I play bass guitar and piano and I enjoy singing. My favorite bands are Pearl Jam, The Tea Party(an awesome Canadian band),Rustic Overtones, The Doors, and The Beatles. My favorite actors are Val Kilmer, Gary Oldman,Ray Liotta, Jason Patric, Nicholas Cage and Mel Gibson.

That's me in the bottom right corner with my team in Brampton Ontario at the biggest Women's tournament in the world! My best friend, Jess, is in the bottom left corner!
