What is a Tonkinese?

The Tonkinese can be described as elegant, alluring, personable, playful, inventive, people-oriented... One breeder calls them "Love wrapped in mink". Another calls them unloyal - they love whoever they are with. They easily become a member of the family.

People mistakingly refer to "Tonks" as "Old fashioned Siamese". However, they are a distinct breed that was created by breeding Siamese to Burmese cats. They are recognized in the various cat fancy organizations to some degree. The International Cat Association (TICA) accepts eighteen colors for show.
