What You See:
The Hunter can see all
supernatural creatures as somehow wrong
although not in a specific way. If something is
pretending to be human it just feels
otherwise, and Mages or Shapechanges seem off
or unclean.
Possesed or otherwise
"inhabited" peope/objects/animals show
up as superimposed on whatever it's in.
"Spirits or ghosts
present in the material world appear physcial to
your character. They may be obviously dead -
burned, broken, decayed, wounded or dismembered,
or they may look like perfectly ordinary people,
but a Hunter knows they are not natural."
(P.132, H:tR)
Illusory powers or powers
used to hide/disguise the supernatural don't work
on the Hunter using their Second Sight.
What it Protects You
From:
No forgetting anything
because of fear or panic. No magical
"veil" or the like either. The Hunter
may not like it but he will remember.
Conviction strengthens the
mind against the messing with a Hunter's mind or
feelings by supernatural means. They will fail.
No possesing a Hunter's
body or attempting to manipulate them by
"force of will alone." (P.134, H:tR)
Exceptions:
Especially
old and powerful creatures (No, most of the
"way tough" characters people have
thrown together in other games don't
count...we're talking the equivilant of 5th/6th
Generation Vampires here) may be able to get
around Second Sight. In such a case roll the Primary
Virtue against a Difficulty of 6 for a powerful
creature, a Difficulty of 8 for incredibly
powerful creatures.
WARNING:
No Conviction spent to
activate Second Sight? Ok, well activating it
after going about with it deactivated does mean
you can see the suposedly hidden, etc. but
anything done to your character's mind using
supernatural powers during that time is still
in effect.
