Jon said touring was the only way to prove we wern't just fashion plates. A mini-tour was arranged for June 1982, taking in the north of England, Nottingham, Manchester, Derby, finshing in Southend and Brighton, before facing London. We played the newly opened Hacienda in Manchester, to a bored and anorexic corwd. They raved at the Derby Bluenote, and we received our first live review, in the NME. "Not for one minute did I expect to be confronted with a hot Tamla beat soul goddess, or should that be god ? " The review was ridiculous, but I was pleased. It felt like we were being taken seriously. On London gig at Heaven, Musical Youth, our support group, built up the atmosphere with their nappy dread reaggae.
