The Web Masters Freaks and Geeks Story
By: Matt Phillips

Freaks and Geeks. I could go on forever about my personal feeling about the show. But I am sure you do not have forever so I will not. I am going to be honest with you people. I only watched Freaks and Geeks once, yes I said once, while it was in it's original run on NBC. I remember it was the Halloween episode "Tricks and Treat". While I was watching the episode my family had company so I really didn't pay extreme attention to the show. I know that this sounds bad, and I don't exactly feel great writing that, but I was always told to be truthful, so I will. After the show was over I changed the channel and didn't watch it on NBC again. Well as you may or may not know, shortly after that, NBC took Freaks and Geeks off for an extended period and then brought it back on Mondays, until they pulled the plug for good. Now I really never noticed that the show was even gone. I was not a big fan at the time, so it really was not a big concern. Time passed, and Freaks and Geeks remain off and out of my mind. In late August 2000, The Fox Family Channel picked up the series the three un-aired episodes, but I still had not yet discovered it. Well time passed again. In late September 2000, almost one year after it had first aired, I ran into Freaks and Geeks on a Tuesday night while fliping throught the channels. I stopped and thought I remembered seeing the show before. It was the episode where Bill enters the hospital, after eating a peanut. Well for some reason, I don't know why, I kept the show on and well, the rest is history (well my personal history). So week after week, I would watch the show. As time went on I began to love the show, it's characters, and the writing. Now I am at the point where I am taping the show weekly, in order to get the entire series, which I am very close to doing. Well as for this website, I saw that there are a great number of Freaks and Geeks web sites, and I thought that I should share my feeling about the series with the world. I hope that through this site I can do that. All my best!

My Feelings About NBC and Fox Family

By: Matt Phillips

NBC, Fox Family, two networks. You would think that NBC, a fifty year old network would have the sense to put a critically aclaimed series in a good time slot, but I guess they have a bunch of idiots running things over at NBC. Don't get me wrong I enjoy many programs over at NBC. I am a big "Tonight Show" and "Late Night" fan, and I can't forgert "SCTV" starring Freaks and Geeks own Joe Flaherty, but they burried Freaks and Geeks in a bad time slot. If they had given it a good time slot, like after "Friends" maybe they would have had more success with the show. NBC made another mistake in taking the show off for nearly two months, time when the show might have found a series audience. Well it is too late for should haves. I commend The Fox Family Channel for giving Freaks and Geeks a second chance in their prime-time lineup. If Fox Family had not picked up the show, I would not be the huge fan I am. Myself, like I am sure many of you, would really like to see Fox Family take the next step in either ordering new episodes or a TV movie. If Fox Family is serious about keeping Freaks and Geeks around for a while, they need some kind of new project. It is only a matter of time before the audience will grow tired of the 18 episodes over and over, well not loyal fans, but some others who are not quite so loyal, or get bored quickly. I am not saying the 18 episodes are not entertaining, they are excellent, but us fans want more. But I can not complain, I am sure Fox Family sees Freaks and Geeks as the excellent program that it is, not the way NBC did. Thanks Fox Family! Thannks Freaks and Geeks!
