Homestar Runner (www.homestarrunner.com) Definitively goofy animated adventures of slow-witted Homestar and everyone’s favorite anti-hero of the internet, Strong Bad. Join them and their friends Marzipan, Strong Sad, Coach Z, Bubs, Pom-Pom, and The Cheat as they have jumping jack competitions, look for big radishes, drink melonade, and make fun of anyone who sends them email. Amazingly, “Homestar Runner” is more-or-less family friendly, with the possible exception of the aptly named but unfortunately employed The Poopsmith. Try it. It’s like being addicted to stupid. Steve’s Online Portfolio (Formerly The Jaquio’s Web Page) (http://scorpius.spaceports.com/~jaquio/) Short student films by an online filmmaker. Occasional explicit language. iFilm (www.ifilm.com) The internet’s largest collection of short films, film clips, and trailers. Happy Boy Pat (www.happyboypat.com) Online animation, from an animator who has worked with Disney and iMax. Most of his work, while not for children, is cute and entertaining, except “A Ride in the Country,” which is hilariously disturbing, a hubba hubba hubba hubba hubba. Star Wars ASCIImation (http://www.asciimation.co.nz/) A project six years in the making and still not finished—the entirety of the first “Star Wars” movie animated in ASCII, using only letters, numbers, and punctuation. You have to see it to believe it. |

BMW Films – The Hire (www.bmwfilms.com) Essentially silly short films/commercials by BMW, featuring the great Clive Owen, directed by the late-great John Frankenheimer, Tony Scott, Ang Lee, Guy Ritchie, and others. They’re all good, except “Powder Keg,” which is inexplicably pretentious and out of character. Xiao Xiao (www.xiaoxiaomovie.com) Animated stick people beat the living crap out of each other. Fan-&*$ing-tastic. Joe Cartoon (www.joecartoon.com) Sick and twisted animated cartoons, usually involving torturing hamsters or horseflies that talk jive. Entertaining in a gross way and definitely not for children. Official “The Simpsons” Website (www.thesimpsons.com) and Springfield Nuclear Power Plant (www.snpp.com) Like “The Simpsons?” Waste some time here. The Weebls (www.weebls-stuff.com) Online cartoons that make Homestar Runner look like a Rhodes Scholar. |
