How did Friday Night Tradition start, you ask? Well, it's a long story but I'll do my best to explain it all here. So here it goes...
Jeff Tangredi got his New York State Jr. Driver's Lisense and began cruzin with some of his friends. Jeff grew to enjoy driving around Nyack and the greater Rockland County area. Soon, Jeff talked to his two good friends Dan Glasel and Dennis Sullivan. He wanted to know if the two of them would like to join him on one of his trips on a Friday Night. Dan suggested that the group go to the Nyack Center's Backdoor concert that night so he could see the drummer in a specific band play live. The group went through with the plan and at around 7:00 pm that night, they walked up to the Backdoor to get into the concert. The doors were scheduled to open at 7:00 pm but did not open until 7:20. The three walked in and wated until 7:45. At that time the concert had not started and the group was very angry at this fact, because Jeff's Jr. License expires at 9:00 pm and the group would need to be home by then. Suddenly Jeff called a huddle and the three discussed their possibilities of things to do. Dan suggested to go to an arcade, but none are available around the town they were in. Then Jeff suggested mini golfing, and the group decided that they would leave the Backdoor concert to go mini golfing. The group went golfing, (Dan came in first, followed by Jeff, and Dennis came in last) and after talked about the experience they had in the car. The three all desired to do this again and Jeff mentioned that it could become a tradition. Then as a combined effort, the group coined the phrase "Friday Night Tradition" to define the excursions that they would go on together. So every Friday there after the members of the group would go out into the greater Rockland County area having fun and enjoying life. |
