1: Bring a water bottle along. Although water is clean and affordable here,you can easily refill at the tap in any washroom. The water is treated and is safe to drink. Most of the time the weather is hot and humid, and you will need to consume quite a fair bit of water to avoid dehydration..

3: The weather temperature fluctuates between 25 and 34 Degree Celsius. Wear casual and decent clothing when you are out. T-shirts,jeans and bermudas are all pretty acceptable though certain places carry a dress code, like restaurants,clubs and temples.

4: Maps are free to collect at the major hotels' lobby. So,don't bother buying one.

5: You will get a better deal at the money changer than hotels,banks,and airport.

CULTURE

1: People here are mostly friendly. Asking for directions should not be a problem,but do smile and be polite. Majority of Singaporeans speak and understand conversational English.

2: When you venture into the heartlands,you may come across a party-like event setup under the flats.But be sure you observe closely before making any comment or taking pictures,it could be a funeral and photography would have to be consented by the family.

SHOPPING

1: Be equipped with a calculator always for the bargaining. Shopping malls have no such practise though... :P

2: There are different shops and areas where you could get cheaper deals for certain products.So,make sure you check around and do not make any impulsive purchases.
