FALLOUT 1979-1982 Although "Fallout" was not Peter nor Josh's first band, it was their first recorded material. The first band they were in together was "Aggression". Peter had to hock his guitar for a bass or they were going to kick him out. But he didn't get enough for his guitar for a left handed bass, so he had to get a right-handed bass. That would explain why Peter plays a right-handed bass even though he is left handed. Little is spoken by the band about their first recording... What many people wouldn't give to own one of the original 7" singles released by Silver Records (as in Josh Silver). There were only 500 made (confirmed) and who knows how many of those are still in existance after 20 years. It is the most coveted piece of anything in relation to Type O Negative. The band consisted of Peter Ratajcyzk (Steele) on bass and vocals, John Campos on guitars, Lou Beato on drums, and Josh Silver on keyboards. Some of the songs they would perform live were Rock Hard, Batteries Not Included (it's not about what you think...it's about technology...well, mostly!), Fallout, and Under the Wheels. Somewhere (most likely on reel to reel) their is a demo of Rock Hard (a song about necrophilia...someone has a hard time letting go of his dead girlfriend) and Under the Wheels (about death on the subway...suicide possibly? I don't know, I have yet to hear that song). But the single dropped Under the Wheels to add Batteries Not Included. It is rumored that "Under the Wheels" is awesome! But not many people on this planet can back that statement. Fallout performed throughout Brooklyn in the early 80's, and got to open up for Twisted Sister once! Their flyers after that read "Fallout-Former opening band for Twisted Sister- Tonight at the Space Odyssey 2001 (as seen in Saturday Night Fever)". As you can imagine, Twisted Sister didn't care too much for the flyers, and asked them to remove their reference, although they admitted they understood. Fallout would arrive to their gigs in hearses. They would step out of them with black hooded capes. Chris Campos, John's cousin stated, "you just knew these guys were destined to be rock stars." After each show, Josh would pummel his keyboards with a bat... In '82, they went their seperate ways...Peter and Lou formed Carnivore with Keith Alexander. Josh and John formed a band called Original Sin. Seven years later, Peter and Josh would again reunite, and at that time they asked John Campos to join in the band they were forming.. John declined, Kenny Hickey accepted. We know what happens from here...if you don't, then you shouldn't be here. Thanks to Lou Beato, JG Koops, and Chris Campos for the un/exclusive info. |
