The Midget AAA Program. What It's All About. |
The Midget AAA program is the highest level of baseball played at the Midget level in Canada. This program is comprised of the best players in baseball between the ages of 16 to 18. Players at the Midget AAA division have the opportunity to compete at Western Canadian Finals or the National Finals depending on where they finish in the Provincial Finals. Every year, a number of players graduate from this division and move on to play baseball at U.S. or Canadian colleges. In the last two years, the Fort Saskatchewan Midget AAA program has sent three players on to play at U.S. Junior Colleges. In order to stay competitive at this level of play, the Midget AAA Red Sox program requires a very high level of commitment. Typically the Midget AAA Red Sox play twice per week and practice up to 3 times per week. During the month of July, provincial round robins require that the team play through three consecutive weekends in an attempt to win a chance to compete at the Provincial Final Tournament, which is typically held during the August long weekend. The top two teams in the Provincial Finals will go on to represent Alberta at the National Finals (1st Place team) and the Western Finals (2nd Place Team). |
