The picture in the front page was given to me by friends of mine, and it looked the proper picture to start to show what we do in Chile from some bridges. Oh, it’s just black humor, we have more than 20.000 jumps from bridges and cranes without accidents.
Later on I will tell you a bit of history, but for now, I got you some pictures, taken some five years ago.
Why am I doing this? Because I have found any reference what so ever of the more than 15 years of Chilean jumps in the Internet.
This is the Amolanas brige, 310 km north of Santiago, it’s 65 m (213 ft) high and is a highway bridge. From here I did my first jump, with my friends in the picture.
No body could take the fear off me, just look out to the front and jump.
After this singular experience they invited us to take our chances on another bridge, the Viaducto del Malleco, a railway bridge, located south of Chile, in a town called Collipulli. This is a XIX century bridge, it has 107 m (350 ft) high, it isn’t just another bridge.
And yes, the train is still going through it and is part of the fun of jumping from there.
This was my second jump from El Malleco (as we called), the one in the back is a highway bridge, and some times, people stop by to see us jump.
In Chile we jump thanks to Mario Muñoz Ferreira.
