The world made no sense when returned from Quebec. We would cover our mouths in fear of teargas every time we breathed in exhaust. We would look to sky when a car backfired. Fire-trucks looked especially ominous. We were unable to function.
This zine began as a healing experience and quickly expanded to something much more. It quickly became clear that many people needed to share, and their stories and photos are incoporated here as part of that healing. There is a sense among all of us that if these stories are told — if we help ensure no one forgets — then something positive can come from an experience that was horrifying and vicious. In the spirit of having something good come from something so brutal, we have made this zine a fundraiser for the 400 people who are still dealing with Quebec in worse ways than we can imagine. Imprissoned, wrongfully accused, needing money for bail and court costs, it is our hope this zine can help them. The idea is simple: download this zine,(if the link doesn't work try this one) share it with friends, photocopy it, add your own stories. There are thousands of people out there who know the mainstream media did not give them a full account. This is our chance to tell them what really happened and to raise money for those who desperately need it. Please, if you can, make a few copies and give it to friends or drop it around local bookstores, clubs, coffee houses, music stores, whatever. Or just pass this URL on to a friend. Thank you for helping us heal and helping everyone understand. In Solidarity, The FTAA Diary Collective |

"After the clouds clear and the fence comes down, here stands a generation radicalized, which is part of a population outraged by what they experienced in Quebec or shocked by what they heard from those who came here. We are the first generation in this country that knows the taste of teargas. They have attacked us with the worst they have and it has only strengthened our resolve…." -- From the FTAA Diary (more inside) (if the link doesn't work try this one) |

IMPORTANT - INSRUCTIONS
This PDF is designed to be printed double sided. Don't worry if it looks weird on screen. Just print it off, then take it to the nearest photocopier and print it double sided (in order to come out properly you may have to turn every other sheet upside-down). If you are just printing off one copy (c'mon, at least print of two so you can give one to someone who needs to know this stuff) just print odd pages, flip them over and print even pages on the backside. Its easy -- really, and it makes a snazzy little zine. |

We recognize that what happened to the contributors has been shared by many others, and that in all likelihood there are some who suffered far far worse than anyone in this magazine. We would like to help you share those stories so you don't feel alone (a normal consequence of being brutally assaulted). Please send us links and we'll gladly post them. |
