Walla Walla Point Park is a Chelan County PUD Rock Island Hydroelectric Project Recreation Facility. Located on the bank of the Columbia River, it has picnic areas, sports fields, Columbia River access, and is adjacent to the Confluence State Park, where the Wenatchee and Columbia Rivers join. To The Trailhead: Head for Wenatchee. Main Street thru beautiful downtown Wenatchee is Wenatchee Avenue. Toward the north end of town, you will likely spot Valley Quality Homes on the WSW side of the street. Just opposite these fine homes is Hawley Street, turn onto it. As you drive along, you will see Walla Walla Avenue on the left, turn onto it. Soon you will see the Walla Walla Point Park entrance on your left. Head for the farthest upriver corner of the parking lot closest to the river, by the rest rooms. CLUES: Head upriver on the paved path Read about the history of Wenatchi See Coyote leading the salmon upriver Pass the sign that tells you you are changing parks Head down the gravel path to the informational kiosk Learn why birds are like baseball players Head upriver on the gravel path. Gate locked? Go thru the maze Diver or dabbler, you decide See the box built for ducks that like trees See the garbage can? Don’t toss these clues yet Go right thru the gate *** Observe the wetlands Avoid the Damsel Flies See if you can guess what you are looking at Be a Muskrateer See if anyone is in the hinise habitat Go thru the gate *** Need to rest, now is your chance Leave a complimentary note if you like Cross the trail More Muskateers? Look for a Meadow Vole A T intersection, lets go right You can leave another note if you like A quick game of hide ‘n seek Obey the red signs If you tossed these clues, dig them out Just be fore you are amazed take the trail to the left See the interesting log on the left, almost like a Giraffe Check under the log, just behind the neck Be discreetful, and rehide well *** This trail is closed during the winter months, if it is you can continue on the left to the gate at the other end.
