The Furvey is a survey geared toward the furry lifestyle. Those new to the ALF newsgroup, or wondering how to introduce yourself, the furvey is a great way to let the others know a bit about you and can provide some direction towards discussion.(Note: a brief paragraph, in a separate post, announcing yourself will distinguish yourself as a newbie (which has a greater chance of welcome responses) from a regular fur updating their Furvey. "You may also find that completing a Furvey helps you to explore your own furry thoughts and feelings."

Also the furvey can be posted when a significant change has occurred to warrant an update of the furvey, or if the fur feels it has been some time since their last furvey was posted. I stress the term "some time" due to the bandwidth these furvey takes up. Usually these occur annually.

The furvey is strictly voluntary and not necessary for you to participate in the newsgroup discussions. Any questions you feel uncomfortable answering you can ignore and move on to the next one.

Furvey 3.5 is posted twice monthly, the 1st and 15th, on the ALF newsgroup. Search for this heading in the subject line: Furvey3.5[alt.lifestyle.furry]

These are two separate documents, which are managed by different furs. Although the Thervey is based upon the furvey, it concentrates more on the 'spiritual' aspect, thus resulting in different questions. The most current known version of the Thervey is V2.0, with 81 questions in 5 categories. At this time, an URL for the Thervey is unavailable. We are currently in the process of contacting the administrator for information, and will update once this matter has been sorted out. For now you can obtain a copy through Deja.com (Google Beta Groups) and search for the Thervey within the ALF newsgroup.

Previously the furvey was maintained by Locandez, up to July 2000. Then it was left as a 'public domain' until I have taken over this position (no one else opted for it, and no one objected) in mid-Febraury 2001, which entails distribution and maintenance.

Near the end of 2001 aMoose, a German fur, approached us and has kindly translated the Furveys for our German Furs. Links to these versions are listed above.

Due to the time gap when transferring management, the stats which were listed on Lotcaf (Locandez's site: www.argonet.co.uk/users/lyndale/lotcaf/furvey.htm) will remain as such and a fresh set of stats will be created from the date of March 1, 2001. These will include the number of furveys posted to ALF and the phenotypes of that fur. Stats page soon to come.
